ACA’s Cultural Summer Camp started in 2001 and we are excited to bring our cultural summer camp back for its 20th year! Our Summer Camp will be in July 2021. The form will close on Friday, March 19th 11:59PM EST.
We understand the concerns that come with Summer Camp in light of COVID-19. Therefore, we have created a pre-registration to have a better understanding how we should construct our Summer Camp. We will release more information in April.

The Association of Chinese Americans, Inc. (ACA) is continuing its long tradition of offering a Youth Cultural Summer Camp in Canton/Plymouth. This year’s camp will run from July 15 to August 2, Monday to Friday from 9AM to 3:30PM with extended care available in the morning and afternoon (for a fee). Students ages 5-14 are welcome to participate. No Chinese language skill is required.
The registration process is now open. Parents can register campers online here: ACA Summer Camp Registration. ACA is also now accepting applications for teenage camp counselors—paid counselors must be 17 years old, while volunteers must be 15 years old. ACA’s summer camp has a 20-year history, popular among both Chinese and non-Chinese families. As part of its mission of cultural sharing, the camp has allowed countless students to explore and experience Chinese culture, as well as to develop a passion for their roots. This year’s program will continue to focus on culture and language learning, with special cultural activities such as traditional crafts, calligraphy, Chinese yoyo, opera, songs, dance, cooking, and more. The camp also emphasizes developing leadership skills, learning teamwork, appreciating and understanding ethnic diversity. Campers are divided into groups based on age.
Fee Information:
- Registrations received by or on Fri., 6/21/2019: $165 ($160 for 2nd child) per week, or $45 ($42 for 2nd child) per day. Discount for all 3 weeks attendance: $480 ($465 for 2nd child). Camp fee includes a daily lunch.
- Registrations received on after Sat., 6/22/2019 will be $170 ($165 for 2nd child) per week, $48 ($45 for 2nd child) per day or $500 ($485 for 2nd child) for all 3 weeks.
- There is a $30 non-refundable registration fee per child. The registration fee includes a T-shirt.
- Field trip fees are not included in the camp fee. Field trips fees will be collected at the orientation day on Thursday, July 11.
- Camp fees are refundable before 3:00 PM Friday, June 14, 2019, and are due at the time of registration. After June 14th there will be no refunds, but camp credit will be offered if we receive 2-week notice. Campers will not be credited for absences during the camp.
- All fees need to be paid by check. No cash will be accepted. Please make all checks payable.

2020 ACA Virtual Youth Cultural Summer Camp
Welcome to the ACA Youth Cultural Summer Camp!
The ACA Youth Cultural Summer Camp 2020 registration is now open! The ACA’s summer camp program has a 20-year history, popular among both Chinese and non-Chinese families. As part of its mission of cultural sharing, the camp has allowed countless students to explore and experience Chinese culture, as well as to develop a passion for their roots.
Though we cannot be together in person this year, we would still like to maintain the essence of our camp. After careful deliberation, we have decided to move our summer camp online! Campers will be able to participate in a variety of classes and interact with teachers, counselors, and fellow campers.
As always, our purpose is to introduce, explore, and immerse our campers into Chinese Culture by engaging them in Chinese art, dance, martial arts, language, games, and music. In addition, we also hope to teach campers important life skills such as responsibility, communication, teamwork, leadership, and critical thinking.

On this special occasion this year, Summer Camp meihua will meet you through online courses。All courses will continue the tradition and essence of the previous courses, and will be arranged in accordance with the online teaching mode。From July 13th to 31st, five days a week, there will be a variety of classes and activities waiting for you!
Along with the shift to online courses, camp fees have been adjusted accordingly。In addition to the basic courses, there are also special courses to give you more choices。
The course includes (but is not limited to) : traditional songs&Dances, folk crafts, traditional sayings&Cultural introduction, calligraphy, lectures, games, bell pulling, etc。
Our days at home seem a little long, and we can't wait to meet you, communicate and learn together。Meihua Cultural Summer Camp is looking forward to your joining!

This year we will be focusing on a virtual class based format. All classes/activities will include some time for campers to socialize and connect with one another just like they would during regular camp! Each class/activity will be led by a teacher and supported by counselors via Zoom.
There is a possibility of some classes/activities meeting in person in accordance with current COVID-19 guidelines from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention AND the State of Michigan.

Classes/Activities (available to all registered campers): Throughout the week we will offer a menu of various classes and activities for campers to engage with. Campers can choose which classes they would like to attend. Campers do not have to engage with every activity/class. Different activities focused on different age groups will be offered.
For 4th grade and above.
In order to have the best camp experience, we highly recommend campers to register for all 3 weeks of a class.
Advanced Chinese Yoyo: The Diabolo has a long history of entertainment throughout Chinese culture, and now you can be a part of it. Learn how to do great tricks like the stick, the blanket, and many more! The entertainment possibilities are endless. By the end of the class, you will be closer to becoming a Chinese Yoyo Master! Classes will be taught by Spencer Wong, a member of University of Michigan’s Chinese YoYo Team Revolution.
Traditional Chinese Parasol Dance: Learn a choreographed cultural dance representing Chinese heritage. The dance class has been a staple of ACA Summer Camp since its inception, and this year is no exception! Dance the cabin fever away with some COOL moves! Classes will be taught by Maya Malouin, a member of University of Michigan’s Chinese Student Association rXn Traditional Dance Group.

Closing Ceremony Video

Entering the 12th year, our summer camp continual succeeds in providing connections for local youth to embrace the Chinese culture. From language, calligraphy, traditional painting, drama, cooking, arts and crafts, folk dance and music, our camp provides a wide range of learning opportunities to youth from kindergarten through 8th grade to appreciate the beauty of the Chinese culture and other diverse cultures.
Program time: Monday - Friday, 9:00AM-3:30PM
